Steve Lewellyn, a drifter, arrives in New Mexico. In a saloon robbery, Steve is identified as the culprit, but Steve escapes with the stolen money, forcing him to shoot someone. Steve is taken care of by Sharon Lynch, daughter of a rancher. Steve gives the rancher the money from the heist and becomes a partner in the farm. In self-defense, Steve shoots the brother of a neighboring rancher and is once again forced to flee. Five years later, he returns to find that the rancher whose son he killed is terrorizing Sharon and the other people in the area.
