Guilty Trails plot

Banker Eason has Steve Yates commit a staged bank robbery. In the chaos ensuing during the chase, the innocent Lawson is shot and Sheriff Bob Higgins believes he has fired the fatal shot. Higgins quits his job and, while searching for evidence at the scene of the robbery, finds a gold piece that belongs to Yates. Higgins is about to force Yates to confess, but then Eason manages to kill Yates and Higgins is left empty-handed again.
