Dvadtsat Dney bez Voyny plot

A film about the unmasking of heroic deeds in the war. During a 20-day leave of absence from the Western Front at Stalingrad, Major Lopatine heads for his village near Tashkent. As a reporter from the front, he is already confronted with a young soldier and a young woman during his train journey. When he returns home, he encounters a small film crew who want to frame his reports in heroic images. In vain he tries to explain to the people on the home front that the romance of exploits and the horrors of the front are incomparable. When he gets confused with his conscience, he turns to the young woman he met on the train.
