When the Polish Michele Wolf miraculously comes out of a concentration camp alive, she finds her husband Stanislaus Pilgrin in the hands of a new lover. This lover turns out to be a daughter of Michele from a previous marriage. Because Michele's face has been made unrecognizable through plastic surgery, she is able to penetrate the lives of her daughter and husband undetected. When Stanislaus discovers Michele's 'true identity', everything blows for him…
