La Nuit du Destin plot

Mr Slimani, an old Arab Muslim, walks every evening through the park to the mosque of the Arab quarter. One night he witnesses a murder. The culprits notice him and chase him. He manages to escape by hiding himself in the busy crowd in the mosque, making it impossible for his pursuers to recognize him. Inspector Leclerc is charged with an investigation, but Mr Slimani wants to return to his homeland.
