"Where worlds collide."
Native detective Jay Swan arrives in the border town of Goldstone to investigate a missing person. What seems like a simple matter turns into a web of crime and corruption. Fantastically beautiful film with a, for the environment in which it was filmed, wonderfully quiet pace and beautiful pictures. In my opinion, it should have lasted even longer. I expected a slightly different ending, but that didn't make it any less interesting for me. Pedersen puts down a great character with 'Jay Swan' and in my opinion is even getting better in the similar sequels and series; e.g. Mystery Road.

Very good movie. Who should not be concerned with what happens, but rather with what does not happen. The mayor is a star in passive-aggressive threats. You know exactly what she means but says little. And she's in control in her own way. This movie isn't about good or bad at all, it's about who is cooperating with "the system" and why? And where are the boundaries? They are different for each character and this is beautifully worked out. That's where the tension comes from. You can sense what's about to happen. The images are beautiful. I don't quite understand the comments of others. This isn't a slow movie either, scenes don't take too long and there's always something happening. Yes there are no explosions and little action. Good thing, too. Top movie!

Formulaic crime film about corruption and the trafficking of young women in the middle of nowhere. Little news under the shining sun, therefore. The images of the wide landscape are, all things considered, the best part of the film.
