Der Heimweg plot
Jules' shift at the escort line, a helpline for women who want to get home safely, starts out as a supposedly quiet Saturday night. But everything changes when she receives a phone call from Klara, a young mother. Klara claims that she will be murdered that night by a notorious wife killer. He has given her an ultimatum: either she kills her husband or she will be murdered that same night. Klara's desperate escape from the so-called calendar killer becomes a race against time. Jules, who is on the other end of the phone line, becomes her only hope for rescue.

Without any prior knowledge I started this film and watched it with great fascination for the entire duration. The film opens quite serenely and has a certain atmosphere that I associate with the night. Nowhere does the feeling of doom creep over you. Peace prevails and ample time is taken to get to know the characters.
In this the film managed to pleasantly surprise me. The largest part of the film consists of nocturnal conversations about which I will not reveal too much. In addition, a thriller storyline lurks in the background, which is certainly interesting enough, but the real strength of the film lies in the excellent acting of both main actors Luise Heyer and Sabin Tambrea in particular.
Both succeed in creating very endearing characters that really draw the viewer into the story.
In addition, the film deserves much praise for the themes it addresses. Quite heavy subjects are treated with care and empathy without becoming kitschy.
Of course there are also points of criticism and there are some things here and there that could have been better, but to be honest. It has been a long time since a film has managed to captivate me so much. It is probably completely subjective, but for me this is really recommended.
