Young, ambitious lawyer Kate Weldon (Jennifer Grey) is hired at a prominent law firm in Los Angeles. There she meets the talented and attractive lawyer Jack Hammett (Peter Berg). Kate is thrilled to become Jack's assistant who investigates the mysterious murder of one of the company's senior partners. Soon Kate not only loses her heart to Jack, but her life is also in danger when she accidentally finds out that Jack is personally involved in this gruesome murder case.
