In 2044, much of humanity will be genetically modified and will live in a continuous state of bliss. Only pain gives some people the feeling of being alive. They buy drugs on the black market for this. Jack, a former neurosurgeon, is one such dealer. One day he finds a videotape of his father who thought he was on the trail of a worldwide conspiracy. He goes in search of other video tapes and thus unnoticed follows in his father's footsteps.
