"To love her meant-disaster...he fought the world and wrecked his life!"
Fabien des Grieux, a student of religion, rescues the beautiful Manon Lescaut from her brother, who wants to sell her to the lusty Guillot Morfontaine. Manon and Fabien fall in love and he gives up his priestly ambitions. Morfontaine, however, does not give up so easily and wants to claim Manon at all costs. He succeeds and Manon becomes the property of Morfontaine. Taking advantage of his father's wealth, Fabien transforms himself into a man of standing in order to invade Morfontaine's circles.
