The Devil's Web plot

American girl Charley Harrow has a riding accident and breaks her back. She will have to live her life in bed from now on. One day a new nurse named Bessie shows up on the doorstep. Determined, sweet and efficient, Bessie takes care of Charley and wins her sympathy, where all previous sisters failed. In reality, Bessie is a Satanist and she promises to give Charley her mobility back in exchange for her soul. Charley's nervous sister Ruth doesn't trust Bessie and investigates her background.
