During World War II, Robert Draper escapes from a police van in a city on the West Coast of the United States when there is a blackout due to an air raid siren. Robert is falsely accused of the murder of his colleague John Maine and is taken in by the operator Mary Jones, who decides to help him. At night, Robert and Mary set out to find the real killer. This killer turns out to be part of a group of Nazi saboteurs.
