Impolite plot
A mysterious woman calls journalist Jack Yeats of the Vancouver Gazette with the message that Paris O'Rourke has passed away. Months before, Jack wrote an article about this man's criminal activities, which resulted in him being sent to prison. Since then, Jack's career has been in the doldrums and he turned to drink. He receives a package from the woman with half of O'Rourke's diary, the other half she wants to give him personally. Hoping for a scoop that will help him get back on track, he accepts an appointment with her. However, she will not appear at the rendezvous. Jack goes to O'Rourke's firm, but there they claim nothing of the boss's death...
