"Mr. Music makes it the happiest holiday of all!"
Paul Merrick (Bing Crosby) is a golf-loving songwriter who avoids responsibilities. His producer Alex Conway (Charles Coburn) urgently needs a new show and therefore puts him under pressure. Paul's secretary Katherine Holbrook (Nancy Olson) tries to force him to return to work. Finally, Paul recruits some of Katherine's school friends to stage a new musical. All they need is money, only $300,000 to be exact.
