An ultra-cheap short film put together with great passion by director Joe Meredith, but the poster is just about the most atmospheric thing you will experience while watching Variant. Lots of practical violence, but relatively poorly filmed with ugly zoom-ins and poorly conceived cinematography. Both the setting and the concepts are neglected, and towards the second half, all substance runs out, causing Meredith to descend into a sort of fetishistic affair. Nevertheless, it must be acknowledged that an attempt was certainly made to build a distinctive, gory world. Perhaps when some money starts rolling in, we as fans will truly get to witness Meredith's qualities, but for now, this borders on absolute trash.
