The film opens fairly standardly and with the typical build-up for this type of slasher/survival movie. The second part is entertaining in itself, but to be honest, it is anything but believable. Therefore, it leans a bit too much towards a parody, whereas I don't think that is the intention of this raw Australian indie film. So it will depend on how well you are able to ignore that; I did enjoy it, but it is not a masterpiece. I have certainly seen better Australian films in the genre.

A film that is unfortunately better at introducing than escalating. Director Mia Kate Russell does indeed build tension, despite the excessive use of caricatured, overacting characters. Appearances like Ben O'Toole and Sophia Wright-Mendelsohn are not exactly the most believable portrayals, and with those two, it is naturally logical that things get heated after a while. Once the limit is reached, Russell turns to graphic violence, but there is no trace of any tension, threat, or atmosphere. The acting is also a bit lackluster and the ending is predictable, but it provides reasonable entertainment as an unremarkable genre piece.
