Not much to add. Went like wildfire in the underground scene. Flowers has made a big impression in a short time and will inevitably end up high in the snuff lists. It is more of a 'film' than most of its peers (take for example the recent American Guinea Pig: Bouquet of Guts and Gore (2014) ), with a ''clear'' narrative and a - sort of - plot to keep things moving. Quite a few dirty scenes, especially strong work by the art department regarding the look of the house in which it is set. Very dirty with quite a few freaky ideas. Despite the high score, it remains a strange kind of film, which I find difficult to recommend. In this case, people will really have to find out for themselves.

Certainly an interesting work. Simple but captivating concept that gives a different twist to the whole serial killer thing. Furthermore, a film that mainly relies on atmosphere and in that area also regularly comes out strong. The choice for a dialogue-free film works well because the silences are perfectly captured by loads of atmospheric ambient. This combined with a nice lazy pace and sets that are almost smelling so rancid, indeed makes for a nightmare-like experience that you simply have to undergo. A bit of Buttgereit meets Lynch then?

Stevens does a lot of good, as I said, although the low-budget feeling still gets in the way a little bit for me. For example, I found the whole sepia-like, dirty brown look, especially during the more lit scenes, a bit cheap. Visually, I thought the film was at its best during the somewhat darker scenes, since the lighting was still being used a lot there. The scene with the third woman (behind the bathroom), for example, is wonderfully claustrophobic.

Still certainly curious about the sequel because it seems clear to me that Stevens is a director with vision. A solid 3.5* although I do not rule out an increase.

Rarely seen such filthy filth. Not for sensitive viewers (and eyes). Clearly created to shock. Belongs to various subgenres of horror. Gore seems obvious to me, because it is one big series of blood, guts and shit.

Add to that, a perverted fatso, a necrophiliac who rubs his small balls with the intestines of his victim as if the tube of lube was empty. In such a situation I hoped there would be zombies in the movie, no.

What is special is that not a word is spoken in the film. That was handled well in the film. Speechless, both for the viewer and the victim. The single location - (bath)room and basement - was also strongly emphasized, as was the sound (silence). Doesn't last that long, but did feel long. Many long shots and the many gore eventually become numbing. Not so much boring, but a bit too much of the same. Sometimes also the feeling of something too "cheap". Pig heads in the pump tank... seriously?
