Pamyo plot

A wealthy family in Los Angeles witnesses a series of supernatural events. She enlists the help of shamans Hwa-rim and Bong-gil in hopes of protecting their newborn baby. Upon arrival, they learn that the ancestor's shadow is cast over the family. They decide to dig up his grave and get help from Sang-duk and Young-geun. The excavation is not without malevolent consequences.

Difficult to watch. It's about honor and ghosts (and exorcising them) in the family, which wasn't all that clear to me. Came across as a slow movie. A few times I thought it was over, but it wasn't. I have to suffer again for the last half hour. Or not.

Disappointing South Korean horror film that proves once again that it is sometimes better to suggest certain things than to show them. The first hour is great, with a wonderfully uneasy atmosphere and a constant sense of menace. Visually it all looks very sleek and neat. Unfortunately, director Jae-hyun Jang gradually believes that some things need to be explicitly depicted, with the opposite effect. The mystery and the cleverly built tension are gone, after which the film plods along to a lackluster and unremarkable finale. Shame! Many more could have lived here.

Feng shui master and 'geomancer' Kim Sang Deok [Choi Min-sik] joins forces with shamans Lee Hwarim [Kim Go-eun] and Bong Gil [Lee Do-hyun] for a lucrative assignment. Korean-American Park Ji Yong [Kim Jae-cheol] believes that his newborn child is cursed and that the curse can only be broken if his grandfather's body is reburied. Sang Deok immediately senses that there are extremely strong and dark forces associated with the grave, but after some insistence he agrees to a bizarre ritual that should lift the curse on the land in which the grave is located. Supernatural horror takes a long time to get going and could have made more use of the power of suggestion, but this looks beautiful and provides plenty of goosebump moments.
