This is quite a tough movie to watch. It's quite realistic.

Barely thought out thriller film with some bloody scenes, but these feel very much like B-material. The excess animated bloodshed in particular makes a cheap impression, as does the fact that director Howard J. Ford hardly uses practical effects to enhance the realism. Ed Westwick is very nice in the leading role and in terms of thematics DarkGame wins enough points, but I found the antagonists so caricatured that I found it difficult to take the event seriously as an event that is actually possible. It is especially unfortunate that the screenplay by Tom George, Gary Grant and Niall Johnson varies too much in terms of perspective, because the detective work is constantly and too regularly exchanged for the situation of the victims. Especially considering the extremely poor acting of this small group of players, this was not a wise choice, and I hardly got the impression that the threat had any control over the game. All in all, it is a poor representation of a digital myth, so limited in its development that it left little impression on me.

Exciting film! Just saw it "by chance" on FilmBox, a TV channel. Surprisingly good until the very end. The film got under my skin; I just wanted to keep watching. The rather original concept with the Saw-like psychopath and the setting more than compensated for the decent cinematography. The characters played their roles believably, and I found the clichés manageable. No, I was very pleased with this film, and I really don't understand the low ratings. I've seen so many films in this genre in my life, so there are plenty of references to recommend this film. A 4* rating.
