Die Schneekönigin plot

Gerda and Kai live with their grandmother. Kai was taken in as a foster child and raised with her granddaughter Gerda. The Snow Queen, feeling lonely, wants to one day accept Kai as her own son. When Kai refuses to go with her, she kisses him, and his heart freezes to a block of ice, like all hearts of everyone in the service of the Snow Queen. Shortly afterwards, Kai is kidnapped. The grandmother and Gerda wait one winter for his return, but when he still isn't back in the spring, Gerda leaves to look for Kai.
