Zeppelin! plot
In Zeppelin, the airship casts its long shadow over three generations of a southern German family. Why did Robert Silcher, crew member of LZ 129 Hindenburg, die in the Lakehurst flames in 1937? In vain, his son Jacob spends his entire life trying to shed some revealing light on the mysterious circumstances of the accident. His grandson Matthias remembers his father's deep sorrow and a trip to Lake Constance in 1973. Matthias's research leads him to the Zeppelin Museum in Friedrichshafen, with one of Robert's former colleagues, Karl Semmle. But the old man wants nothing to do with Matthias and wants to know why he is so curious before breaking the silence. The bizarre circumstances of Robert's death, and the lives of his surviving relatives afterward, don't come to light until 2004, when they get the help of Karl Semmle, the only witness from that era who can still tell what really happened. and why Robert sacrificed his own life to save the airship industry.
