Joan Kenwood (Jane Russell) finds it hard to live with the thought that her husband died during World War II. Time and again she is reminded of her deceased husband, also during her work as a journalist. Meanwhile, ex-serviceman Jim Cameron (Louis Hayward) does his best to get Joan's attention. Jim has come to feel a lot for her and hopes that through him she can forget her first husband.
