Xica da Silva plot
In the 18th century, the Portuguese mines for diamonds and gold in Minas Gerais. João Fernandes de Oliveira arrives from Lisbon with a royal contract to mine diamonds. He soon takes control and lets everyone know that he knows about the corruption and wants to do something about it. Xica, the slave girl of the local sergeant major, quickly wins over João.
