Whiplash plot
"Suffering is the soul of greatness."
Andrew Neiman is a drummer at the Shaffer Conservatory of Music who is recruited to be part of a studio band. This band is led by the ruthless, uncompromising music teacher Terence Fletcher. It pushes its students to the limit through insults, personal comments and physical violence to demand the best of the best from them while also eliminating those unable to meet the challenge. This is Neiman's first day in the studio band. After playing along and seeing what Fletcher can do with the band, he stands up to act as the sole drummer for the orchestral piece 'Whiplash'.
