Vita di Cavour plot
Turin, early 19th century. The young Count of Cavour, son of a marquis and a Genevan noblewoman, is initiated into military life. Years later, Cavour has a passionate relationship with the woman who will remain his great love. He leaves the army and starts a political career. In 1852 he was elected Prime Minister, but his relationship with King Victor Emmanuel II was difficult. In 1858 he meets Napoleon III and together they negotiate an alliance against Austria. The war ends with Villafranca's truce, after which Cavour resigns disappointed. He continues his political activities.
