Samantha Crawford lives a fairytale life: she is happily married, she lives on a ranch where she keeps her favorite horse, and the childhood stories she told and illustrated have become published books. But when her husband is killed in a senseless act of violence, Sam loses her faith and will to move on. An encounter with two children leads to a reunion with Joe, her oldest friend. She also finds support in faith.
