Stefano is a young psychiatrist. He is friendly, handsome, empathetic and has been fascinated by psychiatry since childhood. In Sicily, Stefano tries to make a new start with his wife and carries out his profession from his home. At first he gets on well with his patients, but then he gets to know a namesake. This other Stefano is cunning, cruel and quickly gains the trust of the psychiatrist. Using advanced equipment, he spies on his fellow patients and hatches a plan with dire consequences.
