Trang Noi Day Gieng plot

The young teacher Hanh lives in a beautiful area in central Vietnam and is married to Phuong, the somewhat older head of the school. She is a devoted wife and he a demanding man. Apparently they make an ideal pair. Hanh sacrifices herself completely and when it turns out that she is infertile, she agrees to have Phuong father a child with another woman. This happens mainly under pressure from her mother-in-law, who is attached to the family line. This solution to the offspring becomes a problem when the secret leaks out and the position of the headmaster is at stake. To avoid trouble, Hanh and her husband divorce and marry the mother of his child. Hanh continues to face her fate and bonds with her ex-husband's child. But even her resilience is coming to an end. Slowly she breaks down mentally.
