Timepiece plot

It is 1940 and the old black clockmaker Lawrence is robbed by his cousin of a precious clock, which he had in the shop for repair. He shoots him dead in a storm, but David, the rich and white friend of Lawrence, takes the blame. David has to pay for this with the death of his daughter, after his house is set on fire by racists.
