The Wise Guy plot
Guy Watson wants to transform his theater company into an evangelical movement, because he thinks he can make more money as a preacher than as an actor. He can preach so convincingly that his followers erect a shrine to him. When an actress dies, Guy prays sincerely for the first time in his life. He decides to confess his deception to his supporters. He accepts his prison sentence with the intention to improve his life.
