The Wind plot
Letty Mason leaves her home in Virginia to live with her cousin Beverly in eastern Texas. However, Beverly's jealous wife doesn't like Mason at all, and soon kicks her out of the house. Not knowing what to do, she marries the cowboy Lige, but when she refuses to sleep with him on her wedding night, she enrages him.

I reviewed this film again today and unlike most users who have seen this film, I think this is an excellent silent film that, in my opinion, has received far too few votes.
This film mainly relies on the beautiful camera work, because the story itself is not that much. The forces of nature - here the wind - are wonderfully depicted in this film. The hallucinations of Lillian Gish - the ghost horse she saw flying through the air - also gave this film something horror-like and contributed to a sometimes very ominous atmosphere.
I thought Lillian Gish acted very well and was also very beautiful to watch.
I recorded this film about 10 years ago from TNT and it's a good thing I kept the video, because as far as I know this film is not available on DVD anywhere.

I thought it was an atmospheric film with excellent music to match. The story is not that special, but the scenes in which the wind literally blows again are very well made. Gish is doing very well. Other than that, the film didn't really grab me. It is fun to see once and the film is certainly well made in terms of design, but it is certainly not special or memorable for me.

Fascinating silent that has a unique character because of the role that the wind plays. It is not a disaster film, but the wind is a constant and affects the circumstances and the mind of leading character Lilian Gish. She had a lot to say in this production with her preference for her co-star Lars Hansen and director Victor Sjöström. The horse that represents the northern wind is very expressionistic and impressive. Otherwise a good drama.
