The Virtuous Thief plot

Dick Armitage, essentially honest but weak, steals a small amount from his employer, Walter Haskell, but confesses to the theft before it is discovered in the hope of clemency. Haskell asks him to sign a confession and gives him three days to raise the money, but in the meantime, he fires him. Dick fails to raise the amount, so his sister Shirley goes to work for Haskell as a stenographer to pay off the debt.
