The Risky Road plot

Stenographer Marjorie Helmer meets Melville Kingston, a millionaire whose cynical view of love and marriage is deeply influenced by the unhappy marriage of his brother Miles. When Melville offers to support Marjorie financially, she realizes that his intentions are not honorable and flatly refuses. Later, however, she loses her job and, in desperation, agrees to accept Melville's gifts, on the condition that he treat her with respect.
