The Man Life Passed By plot

John Corbin works for years on an invention that is stolen by the iron magnate Jonathan Moore. After his mother's death, he falls into destitution. The innkeeper Crogan and the missionary Hope Moore help John get back on his feet. When a group of unruly youths run amok in Crogan's café, he rushes to the aid of Joy Moore. She turns out to be the daughter of Jonathan Moore. Through the incident, John discovers that Hope is also the daughter of his arch-enemy. He sets aside his feelings of revenge and goes to the Moore family home to ask for their forgiveness. There, he is shot by a guard. While John recovers from his wound, Moore has a change of heart and wants to make amends with John. Meanwhile, Hope has fallen in love with him.
