"The story of a man of passions !"
Hans Muller (Kirk Douglas) is a Jewish refugee from Germany. He moves to Israel where he struggles with psychological problems caused by the war. After attacking a policeman, he runs away. He travels through Israel with a boy he meets along the way.

A great film for Kirk Douglas fans, especially since this one isn't really well-known. Not a historical epic or Western this time, but a pleasant tragi-comedy about a Holocaust survivor and former circus performer who arrives as a refugee in the new state of Israel. Apparently, it's the very first film filmed there. That alone makes it worth seeing. You see a country in reconstruction.
Hans Müller, played by Douglas, is traumatized by the war, but the film is anything but heavy, and pleasant, semi-comic moments alternate with more dramatic ones. It's enjoyable viewing for all ages, with a strong performance by Douglas, who demonstrates his ability to shine in more character-driven films.
