The Feud plot
Two Southern families, the Lynches and the Summers, have been at odds since time immemorial. That doesn't stop Jere Lynch and Betty Summers from having a romance with each other. When their families find out, they try everything to keep the two apart. Ultimately, this ends in a tragic duel between Betty's brother Ben, and Jere's father. Jere's father loses his life and Jere kills Ben. Jere flees to the West, promising to pick up Betty. After some time, Jere receives a letter from his sister Mary. The letter states that Betty is now married. Mary tells Betty that Jere has passed away.
