That Certain Summer plot
Every summer, 14-year-old Nick Salter (Scott Jacoby) visits his father Doug Salter (Hal Holbrook) in San Francisco. He doesn't know that this time will be different than usual. When Nick arrives at his father's house, he meets Gary McClain (Martin Sheen), a close friend of his father's. Nick is disappointed when his father invites Gary over for dinner. Nick soon begins to suspect that Gary is more than a friend to his father. When Nick finds his father's watch, with a romantic inscription from Gary, he finds out that his father and Gary actually live together. He doesn't know how to deal with this, and walks away...
