Spinning Gasing plot
"So you want to be famous..."
After Harry returns unsuccessfully from abroad where he studied, and is also kicked out of home by his father, he starts a dance band with his childhood friend Yati. Harry is of Chinese origin and not at all religious, Yati is a modern Malaysian who is a strict Muslim. The five band members who all come from different countries and continents symbolize the pluralistic society in Malaysia. When they have to flee Kuala Lumpur because of their debts, they find themselves in the eastern coastal region where their modern dance music merges with the magical folk songs of ancient cultures.
