Soleil plot
Algiers 1940. Maman Lévy (Sophia Loren) has been living alone with her five children since her husband Joseph, a Jewish postal worker, moved to Paris. He has gone, with forged papers, to look for work. She tries to hide from the children that she is very concerned, especially for her son Meyer, an intelligent, proud and non-conformist young man who is jealous of her. When money and loneliness force her to visit Joseph, she travels to occupied Paris in an attempt to persuade her husband to return to Algiers.
