Stunt pilots Bert "Speed" Condon, Bill Adams, and Eddie Smith travel the country with their manager Alec Dugan. They perform stunts for locals at air shows and other events. But when one day Speed's frantic flying stunt ends in tragedy, he gives up flying out of despair and guilt. Alec tries to reconnect with Speed in hopes of getting him to fly again.
