It's almost impossible not to like these kinds of movies. Little happens, but if we only had the moving scene from the beginning stretching to 60 minutes I would probably have been satisfied. It's simply wonderful to immerse yourself in something as relaxed as this. In addition, moving to a new place for a study, getting used to the environment and slowly making contacts are pleasantly recognizable. The slightly melancholy atmosphere (making contact is very difficult for us) gives it a little more substance. Of course Iwai here goes for a simple, but very effective feel-good ending. It doesn't take more than a downpour.

There is not much to say about it, but I like a film like this from time to time.

Very captivating, atmospheric feel-good film about a prospective student who, as a newcomer, tries to find her way in a metropolis and on the campus. As The One Ring writes, not much happens, but every image is spot on and the playing time is perfectly timed. I didn't know Takako Matsu, but she is an excellent cast for this film.

Nice review.

Didn't quite get it with this movie. It was a very long time ago and then I wasn't that familiar with Japanese drama, but it soon turned out that Iwai is just a very strong director when it comes to this type of light drama.

You don't have to expect much weightiness or real drama, this is one of those films where everything goes well and problems are quickly cleared up, or small misunderstandings turn out to be. Many small moments are happiness too, even simple things like a rain shower.

Furthermore, a neat film, nothing is stretched unnecessarily and Matsu also does a very good job (a bit surprising after her role in Confessions, a very different type of role). A big stroke of luck, also the second time I see him now. Iwai is a master of this kind of work.
