Sensô to Heiwa plot
The story of a Japanese soldier who is thought to have died in the war, but is actually still alive. He is picked up by a Chinese fishing boat that takes him to his home port. Here the soldier recovers and is treated well as a prisoner of war. Meanwhile, his wife marries a friend of his who has returned home traumatized from the war. After the war, when the soldier returns to Japan, he finds his wife devoted to caring for his traumatized friend. Merciful in his despondency, he stays for a while to help the couple - while he himself, amid the frenzy of the American occupation, tries to build a new life and career.
