Sei no Kigen plot

An elderly man is mentally confused but is asked to leave the hospital because he tried to kiss the girl in the bed next to him. His motive, however, was that he had just heard about the death of a friend. He felt his own death very close and wanted to do something to confirm life - hence the kiss. His wife knows this to be true, but his children refuse to understand and treat the whole thing as a scandal.
