Fine movie. You notice that there is a limited budget, but they manage to eliminate that quite cleverly and the image of the era is very well portrayed. The film mainly provides a nice insight into life back then and the political tensions that prevailed. Not completely new material for me, but well presented without being emphasized in the film. Meanwhile, this is also an exciting detective story, a romantic story (this is the least developed part), a portrait of a person and a conspiracy theory. The latter is fascinating but depends just a bit too much on it, it doesn't get further than theories. That fits in with the point of view from the researcher that we follow as viewers and you can therefore not find out more, but more could have been done with this. And the occasional tracking shot, that makes me happy anyway. It is not a very special film, but I can hardly say anything negative about the film and I had a great time with it. 4.0*.

The film mainly exudes solidity. In Sarajevo we follow the immediate aftermath of the assassination of Franz Ferdinand, and in particular the police investigation afterwards where Inspector Leo Pfeffer is influenced and antagonized on all sides by people higher up who either want to protect people or the murder for want to use their own political gain. The cast does a great job, but it still feels a bit like an oversized TV crime scene (but based on true events, to what extent I wouldn't know). Now there are worse things than crime, and since we know how (dramatic) it will eventually end, the political dimension gives the film a little added value - not a masterpiece, but certainly not a bad film to watch.

Very solid filming of the tragic murder of Austrian Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie Chotek in the Bosnian capital Sarajevo on June 28, 1914. The murders that would eventually lead to the First World War. As far as I know a fairly historically correct representation of the facts.

An unfortunate day too, because day after day in 1389 the Serbian army suffered a defeat against the Ottoman Empire in the Battle of the Blackbird Field. The visit of the Archduke was therefore seen by the Serbian nationalists as a gross provocation. Investigating judge Leo Pfeffer has to unravel the true circumstances of the crime and discovers that there are links with Serbia.

The (successful) attack itself is not shown, but occurs during the interrogation of an accomplice of Princip who threw a grenade at the archduke's car. Everything was well portrayed, the atmosphere is good and the story is told well. However, the love story was superfluous, probably a matter of opening it up to a wider audience. Shame.
