Romeo und Julia auf dem Dorfe plot

The story takes place in Züribiet, a few kilometers from Seldwyla. Sali Manz and Vreneli Marti are inseparable playmates. But their fathers, formerly friendly farmers, are at odds with each other over a field they both covet. And as a mysterious black violinist once prophesied, disaster breaks out over the warring families: the years of trials completely ruin them and Mrs. Marti is even dying. The children, separated by parental quarrels, see each other again as young adults for the first time.
