Levi Rockwell is a 77-year-old patriarch who gets his children and grandchildren over for his birthday. He spends his days contemplating his life. The visitors come from all walks of life, from man-eater and daughter Aggie to his son-in-law Dwayne, a stand-up comedian who isn't funny. Levi manages to get the kids' attention by telling the story that the Vikings believed that a man became immortal when his dead body is placed on a seaworthy ship and set on fire.
