Robo no Ishi plot

"Adaptation of Yamamoto Yuzo's novel."

The story takes place around 1902. The young Goichi Aikawa (Akihiko Katayama) is raised entirely by his mother as his alcoholic father is never home. A teacher wants Goichi to go to high school, but his father sends him as an apprentice to a clothing store where he is in debt. Then Goichi's mother dies and he is also sent away from the clothing store because his father insults the owner. Goichi decides to leave for Tokyo.
