Rain Fell on the Nothing New plot

David has just been released from prison and is trying to find his way back to a structured life. He moves into a sheltered housing complex, starts working as a kitchen assistant, and keeps his agreements with the authorities. His girlfriend Janine supports him, as do his old friends—at least for now. But daily life remains fragile. Old debts, questionable acquaintances, and a growing sense of uncertainty about his place in the world begin to weigh on him. When he loses his job, David begins to drift away from what seemed like a fresh start.
