Profoundly Normal plot

Donna Thornton has lived at Forest Haven, an institution for the mentally handicapped, since she was eight. She gets to know Ricardo, a fellow resident, and they soon become friends. They struggle together through the institute's strict regime until the day it has to close after a court decision. Now they must try to survive in the real world. However, the friendship between the two has grown into love and when the couple wants to get married, they face headwinds from social services.
