Per Amore o per Amicizia plot

Mirella is a young woman who has lost her parents and lives in the old Adelina's house. At three different times in her life she meets Luciano, Vittorino and Carlo, who have come to Rome to realize their ideals. Luciano wants to work for the municipality, Vittorino works as a waiter and hopes for something better, and Carlo is a clown and hopes to become an actor. Carlo and Luciano are both in love with Mirella, but she chooses Carlo and unwittingly causes a crisis in their relations.
